Let’s face it, Northern Californians are a passionate and proud group of people. No matter what age we are or how far away we roam, however, we have certain characteristics in common.

1. We get really really excited when we see a California Poppy.

Until someone tries to pick it, that is. It's illegal to pick the state flower.
2. We love our county fairs.

Northern Californians always show up in droves to view the livestock, see our friends, and ride the Ferris wheels.
3. No matter what part of the state we live in, we have one of these running through our back yards.

Deer love the temperate climate of Northern California and are always out there munching on our gardens.
4. We probably grew up spending a lot of time outside.

In such a beautiful state, how could we not? There are fields, lakes, rivers, mountains, beaches and so much more to explore here!
5. We support our local businesses and farms.

It's no wonder Northern California has one of the most successful farm to fork movements in the country.
6. We love our Gold Rush history.

And we can probably tell you what "Eureka!" means.
7. We hate it when people assume we are just like Southern Californians...

Any of us who have had to work in a field or garden, which is a lot of us, know the terror of dealing with this plant in late summer.
