There’s No House In The World Like This One In Northern California
There are a lot of fabulous and mind-boggling sites in Northern California, but there is only one like this unusual and altogether quirky home. Located in Humboldt County, this unique home is known as the “One Log House” and has been a popular attraction since it was built in the 1940s.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. The One Log House was built in 1946 from a single log from the massive redwood forests. Art Schmock built it on wheels so he could show his family back east the legendary proportions of these trees.
Art intended to have it tour across the country but ran into problems because of its size so it rested in Clam Beach for a time, then the town of Cummings for 25 years, and then 23 years in Phillipsville.
The One Log House Espresso & Gift Shop is located adjacent to the home and is a great place to stock up on unique redwood gifts, bowls, clocks, chainsaw carvings, toys, apparel, jewelry, souvenirs and more.
