Northern Californians have been long aware that our region of the state is one of the most beautiful, diverse, and fascinating places in the country. However, it looks like the rest of the world is catching on! A Northern California city was just included on a list titled “The 9 Top Emerging Travel Destinations In North America For 2019”. It may even surprise you to see what city they decided to feature. Now, it’s official. Northern California is the place to be and this just proves it.

Recently, a site called Travel Lemming put together a list of the nine top travel destinations for the upcoming year. The list was compiled by asking the world's top travel experts and considering nominations from dozens of tourism boards. Most excitingly, a Northern California town was featured on the list.

Sacramento was the city that made the list, joining iconic destinations like Manitoba in Canada, the Guadeloupe Islands, and Valladolid in Mexico. It's pretty exciting to see California's capital city in such excellent company!

They noted that Sacramento was "a capital city ready for its turn in the limelight". Although Sacramento is the capital, it's far from the top travel destination in the Golden State. In fact, many people would scoff at the idea of taking a vacation in Sacramento of all places. Not anymore.

Sacramento has certainly come a long way from its "Cow Town" reputation. Although bits of the city's history and original character are still definitely ingrained, it seems like Sacramento has proven itself to be a trendy new destination that's worth checking out.
