18 Photos Taken In Northern California That You Won’t Believe Are Real
Northern California is nature’s beauty times a million. We have the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, mountain ranges that stand proud, incredible lakes, and meandering rivers that make you think you’re in another world. Don’t believe me? Here are some photos to prove it. You’re going to think you’re in another world – but I promise you’re not. You’re just looking at the place you call home through someone else’s eyes.
During these uncertain times, please keep safety in mind and consider adding destinations to your bucket list to visit at a later date.
1. Marin County
This boat looks like something out of Moby Dick. It's right at home in Marin County. FYI: Marin County ranked numero uno as the healthiest county in ALL of California.
2. Emerald Bay
Honestly, Emerald Bay is gorgeous every day - but have you ever seen it looking quite as lovely as it does here?
3. Burney Falls
129 feet of cascading water falls down below and creates a ethereal mist. Burney Falls is in the 2nd oldest state park in the state.
4. Norcal Coastal Beach
This spot sits 20 miles north of San Francisco. The foggy mist on the water reminds me of pirate ships and the darkness that sits beneath. Great white sharks, anyone?
5. Field of Light
Almost supernatural. Am I right? I could easily believe this is a photo of someone going from death to life. It just has that kind of vibe.
6. 280 Highway
Anyone else see Star Wars in this shot? The industrial-type photos are pretty amazing. Like something from another world for sure.
7. San Mateo
Would you even think this trail existed in San Mateo? How many times have you driven by the same place over and over again - only to see it like this. Wow!
8. Fishing in Gold
Goldfinger would be impressed. Is this sunrise or sunset? Either way, it looks way cool in the golden light of the bay.
9. Smith Lake
Located in Siskiyou County. This lake is as remote as it looks. Good luck trying to find it. You'd have to be pretty determined. It's close to Meek's Meadow and pretty desolate wilderness.
10. Tall Grass
This is the spot you bring a picnic lunch, or maybe propose. Yes, that's a hint, guys! The water in the distance makes this place in San Mateo seem almost heavenly.
11. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
When was the last time you brought a blanket outside and looked up at the stars? This shot was taken in Northern California and we LOVE it.
12. Mine. Mine. Mine.
Sittin' on the dock of the bay - watching the tide roll away. The photographer points out this flock of Willets, Marbled Godwits, and one Lesser Yellowlegs.
13. Redwood Tree
Bet you never saw that one coming. This is a close-up of one of the beauties of our forest. If you've never seen a redwood tree in person, add this one to your bucket list.
14. State Fair
Come one, come all. The California State Fair is heading your way this summer. Any of you going? Let us know and we'll meet you at the Ferris Wheel!
15. Pescadero Beach
Water. Light. Waves crashing. Yes, we'd love to meet you here. Beauty on steroids.
Sentinel Bridge in Yosemite is like a modern-day Bridge to Tarabithia. If you've read the book, you know what we mean.
17. Santa Cruz
This photo is like stepping into a Thomas Kincade painting - but it's not. Another reason why hiking with a camera is a must. Don't leave home without it.
18. A Forest Full of Redwoods
The gentle giants of this part of the state. We love them and are proud this part of the world is where they live. Also, no one else in the country has trees as big or tall.
Which one of these photos surprised you the most? Which image above would you climb into and live forever?
