The Middle-Of-Nowhere General Store With Some Of The Best Breads, Sandwiches, and Pastries In California
There’s just something about a classic general store. Perhaps it reminds you of a bygone era. Or maybe it’s the small town feel and focus on community. At Stewarts Point Store in Stewarts Point, it’s all that and more. Inside you’ll find a delicious café serving up the best bread, sandwiches, and pastries in The Golden State. This middle-of-nowhere Northern California general store will give you a dose of nostalgia and keep you fed.
Located along Highway 1 just 11 miles south of Guala and 26 miles north of Jenner, Stewarts Point Store is worth the drive.
Once inside you’ll encounter the customary marketplace items like t-shirts, candy, glassware, local art, picnic items, beer, wine, and so forth. But it’s the Two Fish Bakery inside that really steals the show.
It all starts with their homemade bread which they bake fresh daily.
Choose from the Kalamata Olive, a tasty traditional sourdough base punctuated with loads of savory Greek kalamata olives; Challah reminiscent of the best you could find in a classic Jewish bakery in New York; or the Rosemary Raisin with oodles of golden raisins, fresh rosemary, and rosemary-infused olive oil. French baguettes, multi-grain, and country wheat round out the amazing bread varieties.
The bread is used to fashion some of the best sandwiches your tastebuds have ever had the pleasure of enjoying! And the meats are smoked daily as well.
The Hog starts out on a soft house-made roll that’s toasted and then piled high with ham, bacon, gruyere cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and red onion. Yum!
There’s also the Veggie Max, Italian, Pilgrim Turkey (the homemade cranberry sauce is what really sets this one apart!), a traditional BLT, and Egg Salad sandwiches.
House-made wheat bread with house roasted turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and of course enough mayo to keep you licking your fingers as you plod along!
Whether for your morning breakfast, a mid-day treat, or evening dessert, the pastries are to die for!
Are you ready for some nostalgia AND an incredible bakery to boot? Then be sure your Northern California wanderings include a stop at the Stewarts Point Store.
