Stephanie is a freelance writer and editor based in San Francisco, California. When she's not tapping at a keyboard, she can be found leading groups on gourmet chocolate walking tours (best job ever) or running the many lovely hills and stairs of the city (to burn off all that chocolate, of course). She also runs a travel blog with her husband at Big & Small Travel (bigandsmalltravel.com).
Tired of the same ol’ routine? Not a problem: There are plenty of crazy things to do in San Francisco to snatch you right out of your comfort zone, and you don’t even have to go nude to do so (well, you can, just as long as you have a permit). From the bay to the sky to the Farallon Islands, here are a dozen places to go in San Francisco if you’re feeling adventurous.
1. Get in the bay and escape from Alcatraz! Sign up for the next triathlon here. There are also open water swim groups that regularly hop into the 50-something-degree water.
6. Go rock climbing at the Beaver Street Wall on the edge of Corona Heights Park. Or climb indoors at Mission Cliffs, Planet Granite, or Dogpatch Boulders.
Have you done any of these adventurous things? Where are other places to go in San Francisco if you’re feeling adventurous? Tell us about your experiences in the comments!
