The Restaurant In The Middle Of Nowhere That's So Worth The Drive From San Francisco
When heading south of San Francisco, most people pass right on by the small town of Montara. But if you’re looking for a real treat, you may want to check out La Costanera, a restaurant, nestled along the beach, right off the Cabrillo Highway. This dining paradise features unique and contemporary Peruvian cuisine and exquisite ocean views—you simply can’t miss the majestic sunsets.

La Costanera is located at 8150 Cabrillo Hwy in Montara. It may seem unassuming, but it's quite impressive once you get inside.

The drive to La Costanera is beautiful. We recommend heading to the Montara State Beach, just off Highway 1, for a pre-meal trip to the beach.

Though right off the highway, La Costanera can be easy to miss (especially on a foggy day!). Despite its modest exterior, this is a high-end oceanfront restaurant.

La Costanera serves Peruvian dishes with a seafood focus. Pictured above is Atun Criollo (ahi tuna seared).

Some of the great seafood offered at La Costanera; Scallops Carlitos.

La Costanera showcases local and live entertainment weeknights in their lounge.

Walk into the back of the restaurant and take in the magnificent beach views. Try to plan your trip around the sunset, but get here early in order to snag prime outdoor seating or a spot inside by the bar for the best sunset views.

They offer a full bar, domestic and imported Peruvian beers, and a hand-selected wine list. We recommend enjoying a Pisco Sour by the fire pit as you gaze at the ocean.

The close proximity to the ocean is truly incredible.

If you prefer your ocean view from the comfort and warmth of inside, grab a spot in the stylish dining area.
