We are very lucky in the San Francisco Bay area, so the time to get out and enjoy the outdoors is a requirement. The best place to indulge in music, the outdoors, food, and more is an outdoor festival. Learn more about the 80th anniversary of this free outdoor festival in a beautiful part of the city.
Sigmund Stern Recreation Grove, locally called Stern Grove, is a 33-acre recreational site in the Sunset District of San Francisco.
Stern Grove is a wonderful place to enjoy music of all forms from rock, opera, dance, world music and more in an unparalleled outdoor setting. And best yet, the festival is free!
Come early, bring a picnic and relax on the groomed lawn and relax among eucalyptus and pine groves.
The Stern Grove Festival is every Sunday afternoon until August 27. Festivities start at 2 PM and are always free!
People love this festival because of the music. If you love rock, jazz, pop, soul, and more you'll be happy. But, happier that the festival is free!
You'll be surprised at the amount of variety here. In the past, the San Francisco Ballet in Swan Lake Act II performing at Stern Grove.
The setting here is majestic and will surely take you to another world.
Food trucks are available in the West Meadow of the festival. The festival offers an assortment of food and drinks, and a portion of all food and beverage sales goes to support Stern Grove Festival.
You can't go wrong with the food here, and better yet enjoy the local beer of San Francisco --- Anchor Steam!
Stern Grove is as well an outdoor recreation complex with athletic fields, courts, a children’s playground and dog play area. Walk or jog around Pine Lake, or take a look around the grounds at Stern Grove. In particular, the Trocadero Clubhouse is charming.
