The East Brother Light Station has been an active lighthouse in San Rafael Bay, near Point San Pablo in Richmond, California, since 1874.
It's an adventure just to get there, driving along an abandoned road before catching a boat from the San Pablo Yacht Harbor for a quick 10-minute ride.
Bryan and Stephanie will be your hosts, serving you afternoon champagne and hors d'oeuvres, a 4-course dinner, and homemade breakfast. They will also give you a tour and talk about the history of the lighthouse and the old fog horn.
Four rooms are located within the lighthouse, while one room (Walter's Quarters) sits in the original fog signal building, which was once used as a keeper's quarters.
During your stay, you can enjoy some solitude, the hypnotizing hum of the fog horn, and spectacular views of the city skyline, San Francisco Bay, and Mount Tamalpais.
A few things to keep in mind when staying at the East Brother Light Station Victorian Lighthouse Bed and Breakfast: All water used on the island is collected from the rain; this means water is on short supply (especially given California’s recent drought), and showers are only allowed for multiple-night stays. No landline phones, and your mobile may be spotty. This means, you’ll be forced to fully relax.
