The Municipal Rose Garden is solely dedicated to roses, and it contains a LOT of them. Boasting over 189 varieties of roses spread out over 3,500 bushes, garden visitors will find themselves completely immersed by these beautiful flowers.
The garden was initially founded in 1927 when the San Jose City Council dedicated 5.5-acres of land to be used for a rose garden. Nearly a century later, this rose garden has become one of the finest in the world and it sees thousands of visitors each and every year.
The garden is an official display garden for the All-American Rose Selections (AARS) and it was even named as "America's Best Rose Garden" by the same organization. As a display garden, it receives AARS award-winning roses before official public release.
Admission into the garden is free of charge and it's open all year round. There's hardly a day where there isn't a species of rose in full bloom. However, May is widely regarded as the best time to visit since many of the roses are at their most beautiful stage during this time.
