What are some fun things to do in winter in Northern California?  

While Southern California is the place to be if you’re a beach lover, Northern California is the place to be if you’re a snowy-mountain lover. There are all kinds of delightfully fun things to do in winter in Northern California, like all the classics! Go skiing, snowboarding, or ice skating. Winter hikes are fun! Visit any of our small towns that love to go all-out for the winter season, like the town of Truckee, which becomes something of an amazing winter wonderland when it gets cold out. Visit the mountains, or some of our amazing mountain towns. Attend an annual winter festival (or three), and take the kids out for some amazing sledding and tubing opportunities. Check out Tube Town, which is at the Soda Springs Resort – it's one of the best tubing spots in Northern California for the little ones. Speaking of resorts, check this out:

We’re glad you asked! Northern California, considering it’s a wonderful winter place when it gets cold, is a hotspot for amazing ski resorts. Some of our favorites include the above-mentioned Tube Town at Soda Springs Resort; then, there are destinations like Heavenly Ski Resort at South Lake Tahoe, which is so much more than just skiing, snowboarding, tubing, or sledding. It’s also a paradise on earth, with some of the most amazing views of the world around you you’ll ever see. We’re also big fans of Truckee (like we said above), and while you’re there you’ll love playing at NorthStar California Resort. It’s 3,000 acres of winter fun for the entire family!
