While Southern California is the place to be if you’re a beach lover, Northern California is the place to be if you’re a snowy-mountain lover. There are all kinds of delightfully fun things to do in winter in Northern California, like all the classics! Go skiing, snowboarding, or ice skating. Winter hikes are fun! Visit any of our small towns that love to go all-out for the winter season, like the town of Truckee, which becomes something of an amazing winter wonderland when it gets cold out. Visit the mountains, or some of our amazing mountain towns. Attend an annual winter festival (or three), and take the kids out for some amazing sledding and tubing opportunities.
