The Quirkiest Restaurant In Northern California That’s Impossible Not To Love
There are plenty of fun and funky establishments here in Northern California, but if you are looking for a place with plenty of history, a little bit of a wild side, and crazy good burgers and other American fare, you have to try Fanny Ann’s Saloon in Old Town Sacramento. It’s jam packed with interesting artifacts that relate to California’s history, and they also pack in the flavor and the charm.
Fanny Ann's Saloon is a historic watering hole packed floor to ceiling with interesting artifacts.
It was originally used to transport supplies to Sutter’s Fort and the greater Sacramento area. It was also one of Sacramento’s first reliable means of transportation during the Gold Rush.
Big Annie Fanny converted the ship to more recreational uses and docked it adjacent to her saloon near the Sacramento River. It was mostly destroyed by a fire years later, but what artifacts that could be salvaged can be found in the bar/restaurant in Old Town Sac.
It has a bar/saloon feel in the evenings that lives up to its history, but if you go early enough, it's a great place to just get a meal if that's more your style.
This colorful and quirky establishment is representative of both Northern California's history and its current culture. It's a must-see for anyone in Sacramento.
