8 Things People ALWAYS Ask When They Know You’re From Northern California
The rest of the world doesn’t always understand what it’s like to live here. Quite often, they ask questions that lump us together with our southern part of the state. Here’s where the lines get blurred. Northern California is like a different state all in its own. Just in case you run across one of these people, here are some answers to their questions.

That would be a loud NO. Those folks are usually named Barbra Streisand and Elton John--and that would be Malibu.

Believe the hype. Why, yes, it is. And, again, you're thinking of southern California. I live in Northern California.

This one annoys me quite a bit. I mean, let's just do the odds. 40 million people in California and maybe a few hundred popular faces in Hollywood? And, in case you've forgotten...I'm in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA. Sure, I know there's been a lot of movies filmed in our neck of the woods but I've yet to run into a true blue movie star - ever.

I remember fielding this question when I was visiting Oklahoma as a teenager. I was baffled....seriously? It's not like the movies, people - in Northern California you NEED a wet suit to get into our part of the ocean. So, I guess you could say our surfers are that much better!

Contrary to what TV might lead you to believe, most of us here have a life and a job. That doesn't leave a lot of time to get out and sunbathe...and last we heard, it's not a profession we can make money doing.

The numbers of folks with their own medicinal marijuana cards is staggering. I had no idea so many people have glaucoma. But, no, I don't have one. And even if I did I'd never lend it to anyone.

I sure do. Juicing is quite a thing around here. Northern California has zillions of farmers markets to grab some fresh essentials and juice to our hearts' content. MMMM. Yummy.

Not really, no. Aren't you scared of being sucked up into the sky and spit out over a corn field?
Consider this a brief quiz on all things Californian. Only we true Northerners understand.
