Sweetie Pies, Placerville
Sweetie Pies is a small breakfast nook in the charming town of Placerville. The oldest establishment on Main Street, it's known around the world for its giant cinnamon roles and olallieberry jam. The staff are friendly and locals show up in droves at this beloved local cafe.
Sweetie Pies is hands down one of the best breakfast joints in Northern California because of the impeccable food and unforgettable charisma.
Allez, Diamond Springs
This surprisingly sophisticated French restaurant in Diamond Springs is off the beaten path but well worth the drive. You'll be surprised and delighted to find it in this sleepy little town.
Try the Crepes Florentine or treat yourself to their amazing desserts.
The Apple Cafe, Placerville
The Apple Cafe is one of the most remote restaurants we covered over the last year, but it's truly a treat. It's located right off the side of highway 50 in between Placerville and Camino and offers stunning views of El Dorado County from its back deck.
It's also known for its hearty breakfast and friendly staff. It's a must stop if you are traveling through the area.

Visiting the giant green olive sculpture is definitely a must! There's also wine tasting and a scrumptious deli at this spot.
