The Next Lunar Eclipse Will Be Visible From Northern California And You Won’t Want To Miss Out
Most of us probably remember the days leading up to the Great American Eclipse of 2017. People packed up their viewing glasses and headed to the nearest city that happened to be in the path of totality. Even though the path completely missed California, we still were able to get a good idea of how amazing the eclipse was. In just a few weeks, another natural phenomenon will occur and you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss it. Although this is a lunar eclipse and not a solar eclipse, it’s still bound to be an extraordinary sight that will blow you away. After all, an eclipse like this is pretty rare, so be sure not to miss it!
2019 just barely arrived and there's already something exciting to look forward to. A total lunar eclipse is expected to occur on January 20-21 and you'll want to be sure not to miss it. After all, another eclipse like this one is years away.
This particular lunar eclipse has been dubbed a "super blood wolf moon". Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, it is. It earned such a name since it is a combination of a blood moon, wolf moon, and supermoon all in one.
Don't worry, you won't have to travel to see this natural phenomenon take place. The eclipse will be visible across all of North America and South America, and visible in certain parts of western Europe and Africa. All you have to do is find a nice, dark place and look up.
The eclipse will officially begin around 7:30 pm PST. Totality—when sun, moon, and earth are perfectly aligned—will occur at 9:12 pm PST. This means that even those who like to hit the sack early will still have a chance to see this one-of-a-kind event take place.
The eclipse will be best viewed under conditions with very little street light, and especially blue light, to impede your view. Finding a spot away from the city is always a good idea for viewing celestial events like this one.
There will be two more lunar eclipses and three solar eclipsed in 2019, but the next total lunar eclipse won't occur until May 26, 2021. Be sure not to miss this extraordinary event and make plans to look up at the night sky on January 20!
