The holiday season is all about making amazing memories with your loved ones and Northern California is chock full of places that allow for just that. One of the most unique places to spend the holidays is Tilden Regional Park. This is where you’ll find the most enchanting historic carousel that turns into a holiday wonderland every year for families to enjoy. If you’re looking to add a little magic to your Christmas, this is definitely the place to go.
Originally built in 1911, this beautiful merry-go-round is a delightful surprise hiding away in Berkeley's Tilden Regional Park. It makes for a charming place to spend some time with family, especially during the holiday season.
Every year as Christmas approaches, the historic carousel transforms into a holiday wonderland which is open nightly for endless family-friendly entertainment. This year, the park's Winter Wonderland 2019 will run through December 23.
It's already looking a lot like Christmas at the Tilden Park Merry-Go-Round, so definitely be sure to stop by. It's open Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m, and on weekends from 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
During your evening at the carousel, you can stroll through the beautifully decorated trees, sing along to holiday tunes, and visit with Santa himself. This stunning century-old carousel is truly the perfect setting for a night filled with Christmas cheer!
Of course, you won't be able to resist going for a few rides on this historic gem. Boasting elegantly hand-carved horses, cats, lions, giraffes, chariots, and other unique creatures, this historic merry-go-round will fill you with notalgia. Rides are just $3.50 for one ticket and $20 for seven tickets.
The carousel is open nightly during the holiday season, but you can also enjoy it during the morning with their special Breakfast with Santa experience. Offered on select mornings (tickets required), families can enjoy a buffet-style breakfast, photos with Santa and his elves, and unlimited rides on the carousel while classic Christmas movies play in the background.
