This Old-Time General Store Is Home To Some Of The Best Burgers In Northern California

Sizemore Country Store in the town of Volcano is a hidden gem and makes some of the best burgers in Northern California. The burgers are cooked indoors over an old brick-lined grill built into the wall.

Opened in 1852, the general store is located in the small historic downtown.
Frequent guests enjoy the burgers, as well as the deli sandwiches. Some guests have said this general stores makes the best burgers in Northern California.

The entire town of Volcano is registered as a California Historical Landmark. Volcano was once a booming Gold Rush town and is known for some of California’s “firsts”: In 1854, the first theater group in California started here; in 1855, the first private law school in California started here; and also in 1855, the first private school in California was opened in this town.
