The Gorgeous Flower Farm In Northern California That Will Take Your Breath Away
Calling all gardeners and anyone who is looking for a lovely spring bloom! There is a jaw dropping Northern California garden located in Amador county where you can stock up on gardening supplies and learn about what you can grow in your respective climate. Most importantly, however, you can take in the beauty of this incredible flower farm.
The Amador Flower Farm is nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley among wineries and the historic towns of the Motherlode.
Thousands of species of daylilies grow here on the fourteen acres of gardens, which include the growing grounds, a potted plant area, and four acres of landscaped demonstration gardens.
The tulip-like plant originated in Asia but has been a favorite flower in the U.S. and England since the 1930s and has changed quite a bit over the years.
It's a community gathering place as well! There's no better time to visit than the spring, when the garden comes alive with beautiful sights and smells.
You will fall in love with the fresh rows of bright, cheerful flowers. Even if you aren't a gardener, you'll still find the whole experience very pleasant.
You can take a picnic lunch and spend the afternoon here. It's about an hour's drive from Sacramento, so really take your time if you make it out this way.
The farm is owned by the Deavers, and when Jeanne Deaver met her husband Ken, she retired from her banking world in the big city and joined Ken here in Amador County in the Shenandoah Valley where she promptly started her own daylily growing business, Amador Flower Farm.
California's previous drought didn't faze the farm. Fortunately, daylilies are a drought tolerant plant and as the nursery industry in the west adjusts to drier conditions, Jeanne’s daylily farm has been able to help its customers convert their water hungry landscapes to more water-wise gardens. The nursery is also focusing on succulents with many new varieties being added this year.
