10 Unique Fall Festivals In Northern California You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
Northern Californians know how to throw a fall festival. We’re the best when it comes to a bountiful harvest with fresh produce or deep fried goodies. But, there’s something about enjoying a festival beneath the canopy of Mediterranean weather you can only find in Northern California. Here’s a few of our favorites:
1. Eat Real Festival (Oakland)
Gilroy garlic mac n' cheese along with some vegan vanilla bean custard with roasted almonds and caramel sauce. Not sure it gets better than this when it comes to REAL food. September 23-25th in Jack London Square.
2. Bay Area Blues Festival (Martinez)
Live blues music and delicious food are a match made in heaven. There are a lot of chalk artists who find their place here, too. This festival is in its infancy which makes for the perfect place if you're not a lover of crowds. September 24-25th.
3. Hardly Strictly Bluegrass (San Francisco)
Seven stages and over 100 artists are all here for a FREE concert. Bring the family and introduce them to Cajun food. Or, just sit back and enjoy a little bluegrass while you sit on a blanket in Golden Gate Park. September 30 - October 2nd.
4. Sonoma County Harvest Festival (Sonoma)
Sonoma is a place where you can enjoy some delicious wine tasting and delicious food. September 30 to October 2nd.
5. Sausage & Suds Festival (San Leandro)
if you're looking to enjoy a little smaller venue with a lot less crowds then head here! San Leandro hosts a fun event that includes live music and all the dancing your heart can handle. Apparently a lot of folks get up and boogie. But, like one festival-goer said, "Sausage and beer--it's that simple!"
6. Bark in the Park (San Jose)
What do 15,000 dog lovers and 3,900 dogs do in September? They attend San Jose's Bark in the Park, of course! One day only, people! September 17.
7. Superhero Street Fair (San Francisco)
Only in San Francisco do they gather in superhero outfits and celebrate the hero in all of us. A one-day-only event, this year it's on October 22nd.
8. Lambtown Festival (Dixon)
Baa baa black sheep have you any wool? They do here in Dixon. Come to the fairgrounds and enjoy all things LAMB. Who doesn't love lambs? October 1 & 2nd.
9. Aloha Festival (Sacramento)
The Aloha Festival is a smorgasbord of everything you love about island living. The food is yummy and the entertainment is like stepping into a Polynesian paradise. One day only! October 1st.
10. All Hallows Fantasy Faire (Sonora)
Sonora invites all the fantasy loving folks for a weekend of fun. It's a festival where we can all get along - Darth Vader can coexist with zombies and the like. October 22 & 23rd.
Which ones will you be visiting? Better yet, which ones do you know about that we might have missed?
