13 Enchanting Spots In Northern California You Never Knew Existed
When you live in Northern California you get pretty used to some of the same tired old places. It’s kind of sad that we can take a lot for granted after years of seeing the spectacular. But, every once in a while it’s important to dig a little deeper and uncover a few of those enchanting spots you might have forgotten were here…and even a few more that you never knew existed.
Yup, Booneville is a place. For those of us who love winding country roads and fences that go for miles, you'll want to take a drive around these parts.
Enchanted and fishing go together, too. (In case you were wondering.) If you've never heard of Davenport, now you have. It's north of Santa Cruz and it's got views like crazy.
Okay, so you may have heard of this, but have you been here lately? The coast of Mendocino would be the most amazing place to visit if you haven't already. Like stepping inside a fiction novel and living it out in 3D. Way cool!
4. John Muir Park
Do you even realize how many forests are in our part of the state? You don't need to be a nature-loving hiking addict to LOVE a little walk in the woods. It's a great place.
5. Manzanita Lake, Lassen Volcanic National Park
One of the most enchanting times of the day is sunrise and sunset. This park might just be the place you need to go. I may just beat you there.
6. Trinity County
What if you don't have the time to drive somewhere else? Just look around you. Northern California is an incredible place. Take the dog for a walk and discover a meadow or a field or a park where the light is just right. Trinity County is home to the city of Redding and a lot of enchanted spots. This is just one of them.
7. King's Beach
If you know anything about Lake Tahoe, you probably tend to hang out at the south shore. But, that's where all the tourists go. It's the north shore of Lake Tahoe that has a lot of cool spots, too. This is King's Beach. Not often you see the view from this side, am I right?
8. The Golden Gate from a different angle.
Sometimes those tired places that you've seen over and over again become a lot more incredible from a different view. When the Golden Gate Bridge becomes a bore then take a peek from a spot like this.
9. Breathtaking Yosemite
Is it any surprise that some of the most enchanted images come from one of the most spectacular places on earth? Yosemite is our gorgeous girl that radiates mother nature's best parts.
10. Tenaya Lake, Mariposa
A spectacular spot. One person had this to say, "Gorgeous reflections and clouds over the lake make for a great photo as is almost always the case here. Yosemite's Tenaya Lake is located near Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park, California is a great place to visit when open. Discover this magical place on the eastern side of the Sierras." Perfection.
11. Gerle Creek Campground
Does a place need daylight to be magical? No way. This shot was taken in El Dorado National Forest in the high Sierras. The campground is tucked away between pine trees and mountain peaks. Yeah, this is the place to go. The Milky Way agrees.
12. BLM Land on the Northern California/Oregon border.
Did you realize that we still have untouched land? Seriously, some of the most enchanted places are where people have stayed away. The Bureau of Land Management owns hundreds of this type of space in the most Northern parts of our state.
A mile up from sea level is this vantage point of gorgeous. One person said this, "High Sierra Sunset Showcasing the suns final rays illuminating the granite and ancient volcanic domes known locally as the Dardanelles." We want to go to there!
Its like stepping into a fairy tale. And guess what? We get to live here! Which one of these places is your favorite? Did we help add a few more to your bucket list?
