Introduce a new holiday tradition into your life when you attend this year's Theatre of Lights in Sacramento. This beloved event is the talk of the town every year, and definitely for good reason.
For the 11th year in a row, Macy's Theatre of Lights will illuminate the Old Sacramento Waterfront on K Street between Front and 2nd Streets. Businesses and storefronts will transform with the appearance of holiday decorations and dazzling multi-colored lights.
Theatre of Lights is definitely a one-of-a-kind holiday attraction, and it's an event your whole family will love. The event is free to attend and will take place every evening from November 27 through December 24.
The attraction is a fully immersive experience in which you'll be transported to a different time thanks to a myriad of lights, sounds, and visual effects. The core of the event's nightly performance is a live reading of the famous poem "The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore.
The reading of this classic poem is much more than your average retelling. By combining theatrical elements with stunning choreography, guests will witness a world-class performance take place right before their very eyes. Actors will dazzle you from balconies and rooftops while beautiful visuals leave you mesmerized.
Theatre of Lights brings together some of the finest light, sound, and voice talents in the state, including the Emmy-nominated voice actor Bill Farmer who voiced Disney's Goofy. The performance is approximately 20-minutes long and takes place at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. every Thursday through Sunday up until Christmas Eve.
There's no denying that the heart-stopping visuals, including a massive 62-foot Christmas tree, will leave you in complete awe after the performance. But it's the heart of the event itself—seeing a classic Christmas poem come to life—that will officially make this one of your favorite holiday traditions.
