This 93-Year-Old Man Lived Out His Dream In A Remote Wilderness Homestead In California

Meet Jack English. He is 93-years-old here, and when his wife died from ovarian cancer, he moved his life to a place that he had loved since he was a child: a remote cabin the the Ventana Wilderness. He’s not your average fellow, but he worked hard to build quiet place for himself in this chaotic world. He built his home from the ground up, kept busy by crafting violin bows, and lived out his dreams.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:

Jack English lived out his life exactly how he wanted to, and we admire him for this. Jack passed away in March 2016 at the age of 96. We hope we are as wonderful as Jack was when we reach this age.
