North Dakota’s many parks and nature preserves offers tons of trails to explore the land on. Hiking trails from beginner level to expert are in abundance. There are a few trails, however, that stand out from the rest. When you’re on these trails it’s as if you’ve been transported to another world. They bring you deep into the natural, untouched lands of the state. Here is one hiding near Cavalier, North Dakota, that is perfect if you want to be completely immersed:
This trail is located in the Icelandic State Park near Cavalier, North Dakota.
Within that state park is a place called the Gunlogson Nature Preserve. Seeing this place is like traveling to a faraway place, and a beautiful one at that.
The trail has some absolutely breathtaking views. The dense forests surrounding the river are full of things to explore and discover. You'll definitely want to take a lot of pictures here when you aren't taking in the sights and sounds yourself.
The preserve is known for having an immense amount of plants, some of which you can't find anywhere else in North Dakota. The perfect environment here allows for all of this and it almost feels like you're deep in a jungle at some points.
This trail is fantastic to visit year round. The wildflowers and other plants coming up in spring, to the bright greenery of the summer, and then the vibrant colors of fall - every visit is a memorable one, no matter the time of year.
