I know what you’re probably thinking: a sandy beach in North Dakota? This state certainly isn’t coastal. In fact, it’s the most landlocked part of the entire North American continent, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t beautiful sandy beaches to go soak up some sun on. After all, ND has more coastline than California does with just one of its lakes alone. It’s no surprise that that particular lake has one of the best beaches for summer fun in the entire state:

North Dakota's Lake Sakakawea State Park, located on its largest lake, is by far one of the best spots on the prairie to get out into and on the water during the summer.

Not only does the park have trails, cabins, campgrounds, and a great marina, it also has one of the biggest and best sandy beaches in North Dakota.

A summer day trip here is sure to be tons of fun. You can lounge on the beach, jump into the water, or even bring a fishing rod and head down the way a bit outside of the swimming area to cast a line. It's great for the whole family!
