We're true farmers at heart, and we prove it, too- we are #1 in producing flaxseed, canola, navy and pinto beans, spring and durum wheat, and also honey!
2. Everyone turned their heads towards North Dakota for the oil boom.

The oil boom in North Dakota got the state a lot of attention, and we should be able to brag about it - it creates thousands of jobs and an important source of energy for the country.
3. We have the lowest unemployment in the country.

Other than the oil boom jobs, we also have the lowest unemployment rate out of every state in the country. Our unemployment rate was estimated at about 2.7% in November 2015.
4. Our state title: the Peace Garden State, because we house the International Peace Garden.

North Dakota is home to the beautiful International Peace Garden on the US/Canadian border, which no other state can claim. That's why we are called the Peace Garden state.

As one of the most famous presidents in history, we have the privilege of him having a great taste in locations- he loved North Dakota, kept a ranch here, and has a national park named after him here.
6. The country has mostly us to thank for all their wheat-based products.

As mentioned, North Dakota has a pretty high impact on the entire country's crops, but one of the most important and highest yielding crops is durum wheat, which is used for a majority of the country's wheat-based products, whether they be pasta noodles or bread- we're to thank for providing that!
7. The geographical center of the ENTIRE continent of North America is in North Dakota.

That's right- we're smack dab in the middle of the continent. The geographical center is in our state, with a monument in Rugby, ND. The actual official center is about 15 miles outside of Rugby.
8. With some of the lowest light pollution in the country, we have some of the best stargazing opportunities.

This breathtaking shot was taken in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Any of us that have been to bigger cities know that we are very lucky to have such low light pollution. Some places have night skies that glow orange without a single star visible - we have the amazing view of the Milky Way, and that is definitely something to brag about.
9. We have the most wildlife refuges in the country.

We love our wildlife and are very good about keeping healthy populations of our native species through education, responsible hunting, and wildlife refuges located all over the state. We have more than any other state in the country. Wow!!
