There’s A Little Town Hidden In The North Dakota Prairie And It’s The Perfect Place To Relax
Nestled out in the pond-spotted landscape of southeastern North Dakota’s prairie pothole region is a charming small town that has made the world record books. This little town is in the perfect setting for anyone to relax and escape to the rolling hills of the plains. That, or they can take advantage of the fantastic hunting opportunities in the area and enjoy themselves. Regardless the reason for the visit, this hidden gem is the perfect place to experience the Peace Garden State’s prairie and here’s why:
Located in the southeast corner of North Dakota is a small town with a population not much higher than 150.
The town we are talking about is the "Pride of the Prairie," Rutland, North Dakota. When you enter the town, you'll notice this sign. The big claim made on the sign is true: Rutland is the site where the once-World's Largest Hamburger was made. The massive grill it was made on is still here.
It may not be very big, but visiting it is a treat, especially when you can go just outside of town to enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the prairie.
Rutland is surrounded by "prairie pothole" region, or the Coteau des Prairies, which is dotted with hundreds of ponds and lakes. This area has some of the best waterfowl and bird hunting in the country. Rutland is right next to the Tewaukon National Wildlife Refuge.
If you want a full relaxation treatment in Rutland, stay at a place like the grand Coteau des Prairies Lodge that is located nearby. That, along with the town and landscape, will give you the perfect escape.
Have you ever been through Rutland before? Here is their official town website if you’re interested in looking into visiting it more.
The Coteau des Prairies Lodge is one big draw to this area – such a grand place in such a stunning area is hard to beat when it comes to taking a vacation in North Dakota. Read more about it by clicking here.
