It’s Impossible To Drive Through This Delightful North Dakota Small Town Without Stopping
Known as “The Town With A Heart,” this quaint and picturesque small town in Walsh County, North Dakota is beautiful enough that it will draw you in and make you want to stay awhile. With a town so full of charm, history, and plenty of lovely spots to stop at, you’ll want to stop the car and get out to explore for a while. You certainly won’t regret a stroll through this lovely town.
This town is called Park River, and it's as delightful as it sounds.
Founded in 1884, only 1,403 people live here. This population has been about the same for almost a century, never surpassing 2,000 residents. The quaint small town feel is strong here, and makes it a perfect place to stop.
Plenty of lovely historical buildings can still be seen in Park River today, some of which are over a century old. They hold the fascinating history of the town that many in North Dakota share, such as being founded when the Great Northern Railroad was making its way west through North Dakota.
The lively streets in Park River will keep you occupied while you explore the town.
The Lyric Theater is still in operation today, showing movies to audiences of all ages every weekend in a historic, retro theater that's not very easy to come by today. There are restaurants such as Gramma Jo's Kitchen on Park Street. There are also small shops and more to visit in the downtown area.
Park River is simply a lovely little town located right on the river itself. It is about 15 miles west of Grafton.
