There are towns of many sizes in North Dakota, from thousands of residents to barely in the double digits. Big or small, most all towns have a main street. Sometimes these main streets don’t have much to them, but others are bustling and full of life. These 8 towns in North Dakota have the perfect amount of busyness to their main streets while still holding that small town charm:
Many people know of Mayville because of the state university that is located there, MSU. This historic town was founded in 1881 and has a population of an almost identical number today. Their lovely main street includes shops, a theater, and more.
This Cavalier County town has a population of about 1,880 and is the county seat. Langdon's main street has some beautiful buildings holding cheery store fronts and local businesses, incorporating the perfect small town feel.
Grafton's population rests at just around 4,300, and their downtown district has been lively and busy since it was founded. There's plenty of spots to stop at and taking a stroll down the street can be fun for all.
Carrington is the county seat of Foster County and has a population just over 2,000 residents. You'll love exploring their main street, and be sure to stop by places like The Garden Gate restaurant for some lunch. Oakes' Main has delightful stops like the Grand Theater, which is still in use today, and Sweets n' Stories, a combination book store and cafe that makes fantastic fudge. Less than 1,800 people live here but it still thrives.

This small town in Cass County (who would have guessed) may not be as big as the neighboring city of Fargo, but there is still plenty to see and do in the downtown area.
