The Underrated North Dakota Lake That’s Perfect For A Summer Day
When people talk about the recreational lakes in North Dakota, usually places like Lake Sakakawea or Devils Lake come up. There are so many more bodies of water to enjoy this summer other than those (not to say they aren’t awesome on their own). So many spots out there have great boating, fishing, swimming, and other outdoor opportunities. Here is one of the other underrated lakes here that is perfect for a warm, sunny day:
Lake Tschida is a large lake in between Dickinson and Bismarck, North Dakota and south of I-94.
It is also known as the Heart Butte Reservoir since it was created by the Heart Butte Dam on the (you guessed it) Heart River. This river is in some truly beautiful, scenic country.
55 miles of shoreline easily allow you to take a stroll on the beaches, lounge by the lakeside, and take a dip in the cool water. There are trails on the surrounding hills to take in the breathtaking views. And plenty of campgrounds are available for reservation throughout the season to enjoy a few days there if one isn't enough.
Lake Tschida is very popular for boating, canoes, kayaks, pontoons, and all sorts of other watercraft to take out on the water. Fishing is big here, too.
