If you want to take a spur of the moment trip that is in a scenic and gorgeous place, then you need to head out to this no-reservations-required campground:

The Juniper Campground is located in the North Unit of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota. It is a first come, first serve campground with no reservations required and is generally pretty quiet.

The campground is full of gorgeous, tall trees standing in the prairie surrounded by the badlands. It is just feet away from the Little Missouri River that helped carve out those canyons over thousands of years.

Sleeping under the stars here is out of this world. The sky lights up with thousands of stars and the faint outlines of the Milky Way. You won't regret pitching your tent in this spot after seeing it.
