Now that fall is officially here and the colorful transformation of the leaves is well underway, time is limited to go check it out for yourself. North Dakota has many scenic spots that become absolutely stunning during this season. You don’t need to be an expert outdoorsman to enjoy these views. All you need to do is to head outside to the following spots and take these easy trails that will show you spectacular sights.
This fun loop in the Lewis & Clark State Park near Williston, North Dakota will showcase the beautiful colors of fall that surround Lake Sakakawea. While following this trail you may also come across birds of prey, such as hawks, up in the vibrantly colored tree tops.
Experience autumn in the badlands at the Sully Creek State Park near Medora, ND. The trees and bushes that fill the canyons turn into a painted masterpiece during this season, and Sully Creek has great trails to view it with. This park is especially well known for having fantastic horseback riding trails.
Way over on the opposite end of North Dakota near Cavalier is the mesmerizing Icelandic State Park. This particular trail will take you through the trees with views of Lake Renwick. It is an unforgettable sight when the fall colors are in full effect!
Located in the Sheyenne River Valley near the town of Fort Ransom, this state park's trails will take you on the most gorgeous journey. This trail in particular will give you fantastic views of the heavily wooded valley that will be full of reds, golds, and oranges this time of the year.
Right next to Pick City, ND is a great state park that has a perfect trail for fall foliage viewing. You get to enjoy both the vibrant scenery and the lake views, all in one!
6. Purple Coneflower Trail - Fort Stevenson State Park
Located near Garrison, ND is this awesome state park and all the fun trails in it. This trail is great throughout the year, with wildflowers growing in the spring and summer and then the trees transforming into a lovely array of color in the fall. You might see wildlife such as bison roaming here for an added touch of North Dakota.
