North Dakotans are pretty nice and friendly about everything, especially welcoming visitors to our state. We aren’t the most visited place, so many people come here without really knowing what to expect. Here are 10 things we’d like to explain ahead of time, that we want everyone to know about the great Peace Garden State.

1. It isn't just farm land and oil fields here.

From the badlands to the river valleys, North Dakota has a wide variety of landscapes full of natural areas, towns, attractions, and more.
2. It's not a winter wasteland year round.

Contrary to popular belief, we do have all four seasons here. It sometimes even gets up to 100 degrees in summer. And the winter CAN be beautiful, anyway - not just a wasteland.
3. But don't try to complain about your weather; ours can always one-up it.

4. There is plenty to do here.

We don't just watch tumbleweeds roll by, there are things to do all over the state, indoor and outdoor, year round.
5. We don't all live in the past.

10. Not all of North Dakota is flat fields.
