Head out to this quiet swimming hole tucked away in the hills of the North Dakota prairie and you might find you’ve got it all to yourself. This lesser-known lake is beautifully scenic and full of recreational opportunities and yet is usually peaceful and not busy, if anyone is even there at all. This quaint little lake is located a little ways outside of Mandan, North Dakota. It's part of a state game management area and is called Crown Butte Lake.

It's a small but beautiful lake at about 30 acres in size and a max depth of approximately 30 feet, tucked away in the gently rolling prairie hills.

Among the trees surrounding the lake, you'll find everything you need for a pleasant visit. Picnic shelters, fishing pier, and camp sites are all available.
