North Dakotans aren’t ones to boast about our state usually, but if you’re from here you know it’s a pretty cool state. Even though some out-of-staters question if this state exists at all (yes, some people actually think it doesn’t), they don’t understand everything they’re missing. North Dakota has quietly become the coolest state in America whether they realize it or not, and here’s how:

Specifically, the Theodore Roosevelt National Park attracts thousands of visitors who get to see the stunning painted canyons and rugged landscape that people like Teddy himself loved so dearly.

The fertile river valleys are very important here in North Dakota, and they're pretty darn beautiful if we do say so ourselves.

People think a state has to have massive mountain ranges or sunny beaches to be interesting and that North Dakota is just a "fly-over state." They just don't know what beauty they're actually missing!

It doesn't matter if you're exploring the dense downtowns of our biggest cities or the unique small towns scattered across the state, you're bound to find some things that make them truly North Dakotan in a way that no other place can. Take the town of Jud, ND, for instance. A teeny town that has made a name for itself by painting nearly every building with a mural.

Whether you are visiting the historic villages of the earliest people to live here, the forts of the settlers to come, or the many other points of history in the state, you certainly won't run out of things to learn any time soon.

Thanks to North Dakota's farms, America is supplied with things like durum wheat, sunflower seeds, canola oil, and even honey - all of which the state is leading producers in.

If people decide to write North Dakota off as a foodie state because of something like lutefisk, they're missing out on so many more delicious regional foods. The Germans-from-Russia and Scandinavian inspired dishes are the favorites of many, and for good reasons.

You can find the best restaurants in both North Dakota's small towns and big cities. Hole in the wall kind of places or fancy eateries that make the finest dishes - all of them can prove themselves here.

We love our outdoor recreation here in North Dakota. Whether it be through hunting, fishing, hiking, boating, horse back riding, camping, or anything else - we've got a place for it and we wouldn't go anywhere else.

Did you know that lawn mower racing is an official sport in North Dakota? It also has a few weird and wacky laws, unusual traditions, but fun ways to enjoy life here.

North Dakota has a reputation for having nice people, and us as North Dakotans are more than fine with that.
