A fresh new year is here that has plenty of new opportunities and time to get out and explore North Dakota. Even if you already had an adventure-packed year, 2018 is an open horizon to check out some of the places you may have missed previously. If you need some ideas to start, here are 10 places we wrote about in 2017 that are still awesome spots to visit in the new year:
1. Lakeview Meadow
Sometimes you just need a place to get away from it all and unwind. Lakeview Meadow is a year-round resort in Jamestown, ND that is the best pace to do it. Enjoy the views of the water from a cozy cabin and take your mind off of things. What more could you ask for?
2. Proz Lakeside at the Cove
It's hard not to have a good time at this amazing restaurant on the beach. Located along the edges of Devils Lake, Proz Lakeside at the Cove - or just Proz - goes right down into the sand and has plenty of delicious meals to enjoy with the views. Who would have thought there was a beachfront restaurant in North Dakota?
3. North Dakota State Railroad Museum
Whether you are a train enthusiast, history buff, or just a casual visitor, the North Dakota State Railroad Museum is fun for everyone. They have tons of big trains, miniature trains, and train artifacts that all come from the state's rich history with the railroad.
4. Lake Tschida
If you haven't been here before, be prepared to have a new favorite summer lake destination. Lake Tschida is the funnest place in North Dakota to soak up some sunshine and make a splash. Fishing, boating, swimming, jet skiing - you name it, you can enjoy it at this lake.
5. Rhombus Guys
Who can say no to pizza on a rooftop? Rhombus Guys has become one of the most popular places to grab a slice in the entire state, and there's no doubt as to why. Along with drool-worthy pizzas, they also have rooftop dining with fantastic views of downtown Fargo and Grand Forks in both of their locations.
6. Zandbroz Variety
This unusual and quirky store is one of North Dakota's best hidden gems. They sell a huge variety of products including books, gifts, home decor, and lots of handmade items from local artists and craftsmen.
7. Turtle River State Park
This little slice of paradise is basically heaven on earth. It is located near Arvilla, ND, and has the quiet, peaceful setting that is perfect for a stroll, a bit of fishing in the river, or just a place to sit and immerse yourself in nature.
8. Prairie Village Museum
Step back in time and walk through the Prairie Village Museum near Rugby, North Dakota. Many old buildings from around the area have been brought in to create what is almost a town. Each restored and filled with accurate artifacts and antiques, you can take a glimpse into what life used to look like for some of the first settlers on the ND prairie.
9. The Williston
This gorgeous and historically significant hotel is located in Williston, North Dakota and serves as both a magnificent place to stay and an impressive restaurant. Beautiful from the outside in, it is well worth a visit.
