The Easy Trail In North Carolina That Will Take You To The Top Of The World
Usually hikes to the top of a mountain in North Carolina are embarked upon in order to get high above the world to see for tens of (or even a hundred) miles. But this trail is different. While you can see for miles, the long range view is not what you’ll remember. Take a look:

The easiest walkable trail in Linville Gorge is quite a challenge to reach. You’ll travel over a very rough gravel and dirt road that should only be attempted in a high-clearance vehicle with four wheel drive. There are steep grades and some segments of the road have wide and deep gutters made by the runoff of heavy rain waters. This dirt road is four miles long and takes approximately 20-25 minutes to reach the parking lot once you turn onto the dirt road. Wiseman’s View Overlook is located on Old NC Highway 105 near Linville Falls. This link to a Google Map provides the exact location of the parking lot. Love exploring mountain trails? If Wiseman’s View is one of the most easy trails in North Carolina, then this trail at Grandfather Mountain is one of the most difficult. Check it out!
