Chasing waterfalls is a great outdoor activity in just about any season, except those days when the ground is covered in snow and the temps are freezing. So once spring arrives in the Tar Heel State, plan a day for yourself to go chase down three waterfalls on a single trail found near Glenville, North Carolina.
The Granny Burrell Falls, Frolicktown Falls, and Wilderness Falls via Panthertown Valley trail clocks in at 3.1 miles in loop fashion. You'll enter the trail at the road and then go left on the loop.
Enjoy a variety of terrain and changes in scenery on this little-trafficked loop that usually has so few people you may feel like you have it all to yourself.
This waterfall is also about 15 feet high. In warmer months, wear your bathing suit to cool off in the pool at the base before moving further along on the trail to see the last waterfall.
Know that, in any season, you'll likely encounter a water crossing that'll leave your feet wet, unless you wear waterproof boots on this hike. A clean, dry pair of shoes in the car will be a welcome change after hiking this trail.
The last waterfall is Wilderness Falls, which measures about 70 feet high. There's a bit of steep climb to reach Wilderness Falls, but the effort is positively worth it.
Whatever season you decide to check out this triple waterfall trail, know the views are amazing all year long. And you can bring your four-legged best friend as long as it's on a leash.
The Granny Burrell Falls, Frolictown Falls, and Wilderness Falls via Panthertown Valley trail should take about three hours (or less) to complete. Learn more about the hike from our friends at AllTrails.com.
