As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
While we all enjoy a five-star luxury getaway every so often, it’s also nice to visit the opposite end of that spectrum, too. You won’t find an AirBnB rental in North Carolina quite like The Roost, a rustic hideout found near Swannanoa.
Custom built and modeled after an Iriquois Longhouse, The Roost is filled with one-of-a-kind charm.
It has both a front porch and a back porch. Open both doors and the windows to get some cool mountain air flowing inside. What's better than a breath of fresh mountain air?
The rental includes a full size bed with a comfortable mattress that will accommodate two guests. If you have a third guest, the owners will place a folding mattress in the tiny house prior to your arrival.
The Roost not only has electricity, but also has a small kitchenette that includes an electric hot plate, a kettle, plates, bowls, cups, and silverware. There's a French press for your morning coffee, a wine opener for your afternoon and evening beverages, and a private fire pit suitable for cooking.
There's an outhouse on site and not far away. Additionally, an outdoor bucket shower (and water) are provided by the owners so you can take a shower.
The Roost reportedly has spotty cell service, but WiFi is available at the tiny house and if you switch your phone to WiFi calling, you'll be able to make and receive calls as long as you're nearby the tiny house. Don't be surprised if you just choose to fully unplug. This is a wonderful place to just turn the phone off, period.
Ready to make a reservation (or learn more)? At the time of publication, The Roost is listed on Airbnb.com for just $66 per night! Better hurry!! By the way, the couple that own The Roost get wonderful ratings from users. The tiny house and it owners, Ryan and Alyson, currently rank high with 4.98 stars out of 5 stars from 400 reviews. That’s fantastic!
In case you’re not terribly familiar with Western North Carolina, Swannanoa (where The Roost is located) is 11 miles east of Asheville and 6 miles west of Black Mountain. So there is a lot of fun things to do nearby!
