This Historic Mill Town In North Carolina Is Actually A Museum You Won’t Find The Likes Of Anywhere Else
We can’t think of a more suitable place for a picturesque day trip and picnic than Murray’s Mill Historic District, where 20 historic buildings, a scenic pond, and an awesome waterfall spillway create an unforgettable atmosphere for enjoying the spoils of a spring, summer, or autumn day with the family.

The mill began in the late 1800s, and the current mill building was constructed in 1913. Still perfectly intact, the mill has an 28 foot wheel, the original one-ton grind stone, and more! Visitors can pop inside and see it all as it was a century ago.

Take a slow place around the historic district and break for lunch on one of the shade-covered tables!

Once inside, you'll marvel at the original beadboard ceilings, the handcrafted wooden shelving and all of the keepsakes for sale in the old general store that now serves as the gift shop for the historic mill.

You'll be in awe of this perfectly preserved little mill "village" and the efforts that have been taken to keep it preserved over the years.
