While much of "The Green Mile" was filmed at a famous (and recently destroyed by tornado) former prison in Tennessee, the Flat Top Manor (a.k.a. Moses Cone Manor) in Blowing Rock was the setting for the retirement home where the film's storyteller lived.
The hilarious 2013 comedy, "We're The Millers" may have taken the faux Miller family across the Mexican border, but the truth is, the filming was based in Wilmington and featured various locations along the coast of North Carolina.
Surprisingly, only a few scenes were filmed at the actual Talladega Speedway. Most of this iconic film was shot in Concord, Lake Norman, and various one-off locations around Charlotte.
Few movies have defined a generation in quite the same way as "Dirty Dancing," which was filmed primarily at various locations at North Carolina's Lake Lure.

This 2017 film swept through the awards season with more than 30 awards including Best Actress for Francis McDormand's portrayal of a mother looking for justice for her murdered daughter. Based on a true story, the film was set in Ebbing, Missouri - but filmed in and around Sylva, North Carolina.
Filmed near Monroe, North Carolina, this 1985 film taught us all about finding inner strength and how important it is to maintain hope in the toughest of situations.
The third movie in the series was filmed in Wilmington with some scenes captured on Oak Island. Tony Stark's clash with The Mandarin is one for the ages.
