What are the best easy hikes in North Carolina?

North Carolina is a great place for hiking, no matter your skill level. There are plenty for beginners and folks who prefer to take it easy. Some of the most popular trails rated as “easy” include the beautiful Triple Falls Trail, located within DuPont State Recreational Forest. The Max Patch Loop is also super easy and super photogenic, so make sure to bring a camera! Also, the Craggy Pinnacle Trail is great, though it is seasonal, so make sure to check for any closures before you head out.

What are the most family-friendly hikes in North Carolina?

In this case, we’ll assure you that any hike rated as “easy” and under one mile in length should be great for families, particularly if they’re paved. Tucked within beautiful Pisgah National Forest is the absolutely breathtaking Looking Glass Waterfalls trail. It’s a short, simple and totally kid-friendly path leading to Looking Glass Falls, which is an incredible waterfall popular with photographers for a reason. The Mount Mitchell Summit Trail at the Mount Mitchell State Park is another excellent trail for kids. We also really like the Whitewater Falls Overlook Trail, which will take your family to yet another incredible waterfall.
