You Might Remember The Now Defunct North Carolina Theme Park, Ghost Town In The Sky

If you were lucky enough to visit the now defunct Ghost Town in the Sky in Maggie Valley, then you know just how special the mountaintop attraction was. From staged gun fights that played out from the rooftops to the streets to rides, games, and food, Ghost Town in the Sky was (and still is) among our favorite childhood memories from the Tar Heel State.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now: https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/nominate/

Ghost Town in the Sky isn’t the only mountaintop theme park in North Carolina that’s now defunct. There’s also the Land of Oz in Beech Mountain.
