The Special Homemade Batter On The Fried Chicken From The Trading Post In North Carolina Is Worth The Drive To The Coast
Weekends and vacations are meant for special indulgences – and food is definitely in the top five for almost everyone. Whether working from home or at an actual brick and mortar establishment, we pour our heart and soul into our jobs all week long and look forward to those two or three days each week where it’s all about us and our loved ones.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. The next time you're seeking a special indulgence, head to the coast to a humble little restaurant on Emerald Isle. The family-owned and family-run restaurant known as The Trading Post boasts a menu with a wide array of options.
A couple of decades ago, after the healthcare industry urged people to give up fried foods, finger-licking-good fried chicken got bumped to a category of indulgence all to itself.
At the Trading Post, which as mentioned, is on an island, the fried chicken is every bit as popular as the seafood items on the menu. The eatery opens for breakfast every day at 8 a.m. (they're closed on Tuesdays). Order up anything and everything from steak and eggs, or sausage, biscuits and gravy, to a traditional eggs, meat and toast plate.
Dine inside or outside on the patio. Other menu items include a Southern fried crab ball appetizer, a burger, fish sandwich, and more. Check off another weekend indulgence by ordering a bloody Mary or other specialty drink from the bar menu.
It’s open six days a week (closed on Tuesday). The hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Learn more on the official website for The Trading Post and give it a follow on Facebook!
