This Tiny Town In North Carolina Is Home To The Most Unique Park Ever
You never know what fascinating gems you’ll find in the Tar Heel State – until you look. In the westernmost county of North Carolina, in the town of Murphy, there is a free theme park with a truly inspirational devotion.
Fields of the Wood encompasses 200 acres in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Inside, you'll find a one-of-a-kind hidden bible theme park with the biggest ten commandments in the world. A devine set of stairs leads straight up Ten Commandment Mountain past an inspiring oversized set of commandments set into the perfectly manicured lawn of the mountainside.
On the opposing mountain face, you'll find Prayer Mountain, where you'll pass 29 tablets as you ascend to the top. Each contains a teaching for you to ponder on the 321 steps to the top of Prayer Mountain.
The creators of Fields of the Wood built a replica of the tomb Jesus was laid to rest in. The tomb itself isn't the point; the point is the door to the tomb is ajar, meaning Jesus has risen.
There's so much to see and do in this free theme park. The average visit takes at least 2 hours. Visit the Flags of the World Cross, it's located (you probably guessed it) on top of a hill. After, climb the steps to view the Psalms of Praise (shown below).
Want to visit the most unique theme park in North Carolina? Fields of the Wood is open every day of the week from sunrise to sunset. Their gift shop is also open every day. Admission and parking are absolutely free, however, you may make a contribution if you choose to. The park is located at 10000 NC-294, Murphy, NC 28906. Find out more on their official website.
