7 Picture Perfect Fall Day Trips To Take Around Charlotte
With fall right around the corner, it’s a great time to head out to a local pumpkin patch around Charlotte, pick out fresh autumn decor and to have fun with the whole family! There are many awesome pumpkin patches and corn mazes in the Charlotte area that make for a fun day trip on a Saturday or an exciting after school activity during the week. Get the kids out of the house and let them pick out their own pumpkin or take them on a hayride around one of these awesome spots. You won’t want to miss these amazing fall adventures!

1. Carrigan Farms Pumpkin Patch Tour
Carrigan Farms is a fully operating farm that is open year around in Mooresville, NC just 40 minutes north of Charlotte.
In the fall, Carrigan Farms has an amazing pumpkin patch where visitors have the best choice of pumpkins, gourds, and squash large and small.
Carrigan Farms also offers regular hayrides to the pumpkin patch on Saturdays and Sundays in October. The kids will love the hayride to en route to picking out their perfect pumpkin, so put this on your list for a fall treat this October.
2. Hall Family Farm
Hall Family Farm is a local farm in Charlotte located on Providence Road.
Hall Family Farm has been serving the Charlotte area for more than 70 years and has a great selection of pumpkins and autumn produce for purchase.
Hall Family Farm has activities that everyone will enjoy. A sing-along hayride is a big hit with the wee ones as well as pumpkin painting and fresh, hot apple cider. Hall Family Farm is a great place to visit if you are looking to experience the feel of the farm without leaving the city limits.
3. Anne Springs Close Greenway Fall Frolics
Anne Springs Close Greenway is a phenomenal Greenway in Fort Mill, SC, just over a half hour south of Charlotte.
From September 30 through the end of October, Anne Springs Close Greenway hosts Fall Frolics with tons of outdoor activities.
Visitors can find their way through the abundant corn maze on the property or take horseback riding lessons if they so please. A petting zoo and rubber duck races are always a big draw, and then of course there is the live music and entertainment you'll find going on at the Greenway amphitheatre. Anne Springs Close Greenway is a great fall day trip for the whole family, so head out sometime this autumn to enjoy the experience.
4. Rural Hill's Amazing Maize Maze
Historic Rural Hill is located in Huntersville, NC about 45 minutes from Uptown Charlotte and is known for having one of the most exquisite corn mazes in the North Carolina Area.
Visitors from all over the state come to Huntersville to try their luck at the Amazing Maize Maze.
A seven acre corn maze with more than two miles of interconnecting paths, this maze is bound to give you a challenge at some point during your visit. After you finish the maze, take a hayride around the farm or pick out a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. You'll love Rural Hill so much, you'll want to bring your friends next time!
5. The Hunter Farm
The Hunter Farm is a Charlotte Farm located in Matthews right outside of Weddington.
The Hunter Farm offers great autumn activities like tractor rides, a petting barn where you can see and pet your favorite animals, and a great pumpkin patch!
The Hunter Farm is also the host of the Matthews Food Truck Fridays, so make it a weekend affair with food trucks on Friday and pumpkin picking on Saturday.
6. Hodges Farm Pumpkin Patch
Hodges Family Farm is the longest-running farm in Charlotte and a great place to visit this fall.
Hodges Family Farm has a wonderful pumpkin patch along with a pumpkin washing station so you can make sure the pumpkin you take home is looking its best before you even get to the house.
A hay maze, farm animals, and a hay mountain are just some of the other attractions you'll see at Hodges Family Farm, along with amazingly fresh produce and other items for sale.
7. Lazy 5 Ranch Fall Festival
The Lazy 5 Ranch Fall Festival is a one-of-a-kind event that you must see this fall.
The Fall Festival is ongoing throughout the month of October, and you'll find tons of things to keep you busy.
Activities include a pumpkin patch with a wide variety of fall decorations and pumpkins, marshmallow roasting on an open fire, a pumpkin slingshot, cornhole, hayrides, and more. You can also still see all the amazing animals that live at Lazy 5 Ranch while at the Fall Festival, so make a day of it and come out to get in the autumn spirit. We promise you'll enjoy!
