This Hidden Beach Along The North Carolina Crystal Coast Is The Best Place To Find Seashells

One of the most remote state parks in North Carolina is found in Swansboro, where the visitor center functions as the launch point for a ferry that transports visitors 15 minutes to the east to Bear Island. Bear Island is four miles of undeveloped wilderness with positively stunning beaches to explore.

We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life. While we continue to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, please take proper precautions or add them to your bucket list to see at a later date. See the 2021 schedule for the ferry service here. You can find out more about Hammocks Beach State Park right here.
