There are few things you can count on in this world – and Wo Hop is one of them. A New York institution, the eatery has been doling out fantastic Asian cuisine for decades. But it’s not just the great grub that makes a visit so memorable. There’s also the quirky décor, which consists of dollar bills and autographed photos of past diners. Take a look:
New York is full of great Chinese restaurants, but not many have withstood the test of time like Wo Hop, which first opened its doors in 1938!
Just to clear up some confusion, Wo Hop City is situated right above Wo Hop. The two are owned by the same family, but are completely different, so don’t assume the two are interchangeable.
Over the past 30+ years, Chinese restaurants have been evolving, trying to keep with current trends. But not at Wo Hop, where menu is brimming with the old-school favorites.
The tasty selection is only outshined by the hearty portions and extremely low prices – $20 is more than enough for one person to eat (and likely have leftovers).
Plastered with dollar bills, business cards, and autographed photos, the walls tell the tale of the countless devoted diners who have visited throughout the years.
