Only those of us who are lucky enough to call ourselves New Yorkers can truly appreciate just how amazing and unique this state is. From the gorgeous mountains to the flavorful foods, there are certain things that you’ll always relate the Empire State to in your mind. 1. The mountains.
There may be bigger mountains than the ones that you'll find in New York, but anytime we happen to catch a glimpse of any other state's tall mountainous wonders we can't help but think about our beauties back at home.
To any New Yorker that's never left our state, it may be surprising to find out that not all states are as decorated in waterfalls as New York is. So when we visit other places that have smaller waterfalls, we always think about how lucky we are to have such huge, towering waterfalls right here in our state.
3. Small towns.
New York's small towns are the heart of our state, so we always think of ours when we travel through our states's small towns.
4. Fall foliage.
Seeing fall foliage anywhere else around the U.S. only reminds us of New York's beautiful vibrant colors because our state's foliage is simply the best!
5. Snow storms or snow in general.
All regions of New York are well versed in the art of snow storms and general snowfall, Western New York specifically.
6. Rural scenery and rolling hills.
Make your way out to the Finger Lakes and travel along scenic roads like Route 20 and you'll find rolling hills and beautiful farmland that will having you pulling over to enjoy the view.
7. New York pizza!
Plenty of places all around the world do their best to replicate a good New York style pizza, but none will compare to the actual pizza that you can find in our state!
8. Seeing someone wear apparel that has a New York team on it.
Even on the West Coast you'll find non-New York residents sporting Yankee and Buffalo Bills apparel. People can't help but love the best teams!
Wegmans may originally from New York, but now you can find these extraordinary super markets all along the East Coast.

11. Cabins by the lake.
Almost everyone in New York either knows a friend who has a cabin right on one of our lakes or has one themselves.
12. North Face jackets.
One of the main things you'll need to survive the fall and winter in New York, North Face jackets are an essential part of our seasonal attire during the colder months.
13. Salt... and potatoes!
If you weren't already aware, New York has an actual Salt Museum right out in Liverpool. Our Central New Yorkers are such big fans of the mineral that we love to eat it with potatoes and dedicate entire museums to it.
