For those of us who are born and raised in New York, we already have it ingrained into our DNA to complain about our state's taxes and the misuse of money, but if you aren't from here you might want to make sure you're prepared to be a full-time complainer.

One thing you'll quickly learn when moving to New York is that we have quite a few regions that have mastered how to make delicious wine. From the Finger Lakes out to Long Island, be prepared to have your thirst quenched.

While some people may enjoy living in states that feel like it's summer all the time, but not everyone wants to live in the heat! If you happen to be itching for beautiful fall foliage or calm spring days — it's time to move to the Empire State.

But prepare yourself, the beauty of winter also comes with digging out your car, getting trapped inside your own house, lake-effect storms and other not-so-glamorous stuff. One of the best parts about living in New York is that no matter what region of our state you call home, you can almost always be to someplace new within a couple of hours. Residents on the eastern half of our state can be to New England and out to the ocean within a couple of hours, while our residents in the north have easy access to an entirely different country and our residents in the west are a hop and a skip away from all our friends in the Great Lakes Region. We're so spoiled!

Living in New York feels like the entire state is your playground. With amazing mountain ranges to climb, treetop adventures, thousands of lakes, and stunning trails to explore, this is one state in the Northeast that's perfect for explorers.
