To those who have never visited the small city of Kingston in New York, you’ll find that there’s so much history to dive into here and plenty of attractions along the riverfront to enjoy. If you’ve yet to visit this area though, then you might not be aware of the fact that there’s a scenic railroad running right through town! More extraordinary than the average ride along the rails that you might be used to experiencing, check out how this open air train ride in the Empire State will provide you and your family with an unforgettable afternoon.
Departing from the Kingston Plaza Station, Catskill Mountain Railroad is a family favorite attraction to visit in town.
Throughout the year, the Catskill Mountain Railroad features all sorts of themed rides like their Great Train Robbery, Ice Cream Sunday, Pumpkin Express, Rails of Terror, Polar Express, and Easter Bunny trains.
Until the beginning of September, passengers can hop aboard the historic railroad and enjoy the Catskill Flyer Summertime Rides, where you'll get to enjoy the same route that people have been traveling along since all the way back in the 1860s.
That's right! Taking place again this year, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, you can purchase tickets to ride this funky open air train.
Featuring live music from local musicians like the Meade Mountain Resonators and Ben Rounds, the whole family will love experiencing this hour-long Peace Train that's unlike any other in our state.
With plenty of tickets still available for their final Peace Train weekend, start planning your adventure along the Catskill Mountain Railroad before all these tickets sell out and it's too late!
